M5 Wilma Mankiller
M5 Wilma
Mankiller, “Challenges Facing the 21st Century Indigenous Peoples.”
What source did
you review and who created it? What perspective do you think it is meant to
convey?
The source that I
reviewed for this blog was located in assigned video located in the M5
Overview, ASU libraries. It featured
Wilma Mankiller, in the year 2008 at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Arizona. It conveyed a perspective was that of an
educated women who was trying to share as much information as possible in
regards to the Native American peoples present and past culture. In the documentary Wilima Mankiller shared an
abundance of knowledge about indigenous tribes throughout America.
Why do you think
these web resources where selected and put into this course and not others?
What makes a quality academic website and do you think the website you reviewed
is one?
The source where
selected and put into this course due to Wilma Mankillers involvement with the
Native American people. Wilma Mankiller
is best known as being a spokesperson and activist for her people. Her teachings are not only stories that are
told to her, they come from her knowledge of her own history within the Native
American community. The academic
website was of great quality in my opinion; I felt it showed the passion of
Wilman Mankiller through her speeches.
What is the
purpose of making a Native American focused journal into a blog? Why do you
think I have encouraged you to share the knowledge you have gained in a more
public forum, beyond the virtual classroom?
The purpose of
making blog on Native Americans was to help the class read the different
opinions we each had during our course.
We were able to share our thoughts and without any prejudice. It helped us intertwine together and help get
to know each other through our many readings and discussions. It is my desire
that my children will interact with the Native Americans. It is my hope that they want to further get involved
in making a great change for us all in the future and for our people and
environment.
